A shoebox can be used at Halloween, or any other date, to make a monster. Discard the lid or set it aside for another project. Simply glue construction paper on the outside of the box. Cut and glue a large, oval shaped piece of colored construction paper on the outside, bottom of the box; it should almost stretch from one end of the box to the other. Score the middle of the outside, bottom of the box and fold it in half to create a mouth. Cut jagged "teeth" out of construction paper and attach them to the edges of the monster's mouth. Hot glue googly eyes to the top portion of the box or cut holes in the box and insert ping pong balls for eyes. If you use ping pong balls, draw pupils on them with a permanent marker. Use double sided tape to attach colorful cotton balls to the monster's body, shagged, construction paper eyebrows above the eyes and chenille pipe cleaners to the monster's head. Make treasure chests out of shoe boxes and fill them with prizes to reward well behaved children or use them as part of a child's pirate role play stash. Spray paint the shoe box and its lid black. While it's drying, cut gold, foil like wrapping paper into two 1 1/2 inch strips. The wrapping paper will be the mock bands that wrap around the ends of the treasure chest. Glue the gold bands around the box and poke gold paper fasteners through the box to mimic nails holding the chest together. Print and cut out a large, old fashioned image of a lock. Glue the lock to the center, edge of the box's lid. For added decorations, draw a skull and bones on the top of the box to make the treasure chest appear as pirate's booty. Recreate a beloved memory or a memorable scene by making dioramas. A diorama is a three dimensional model. Cover the outside of the box with construction paper. The inside bottom of the shoe box represents the model's background. For example, if you're recreating a fish tank you saw at an aquarium, the background would be blue to represent the water in which the fish swam. Draw, color and cut out animals, people, plants and things vital to recreating the scene. Flip the shoe box on its side and glue the cutouts inside the box. The images shouldn't touch the background or it won't be three dimensional. Amaze kids and adults by repurposing shoe boxes into musical instruments. Put the lid on the shoe box and flip the box over to expose its bottom. Cut a cup sized circle out of the bottom of the box. Spray paint the shoe box and allow it to dry. Wrap six different width rubber bands around the box, starting with the widest and ending with the narrowest rubber band. Slide one pencil under the rubber bands, on each side of the circular cutout, approximately half an inch away from the cutout. For added visual appeal, attach a spray painted paper towel tube to one end of the rubber band covered box to represent the neck of your guitar. 308497 033 Air Jordan 4 Green Glow Dark Grey Green Glow Cement Grey Black ,Air Jordan 6 Rings Venom Green 626969 030 Air Jordan 4 Retro Fear Pack Stealth Black White 308308 001 Nike Air Jordan 2 II Retro Black Chrome Air Jordan 5 3Lab5 Air Jordan 3 Retro True Blue 2011 378037 117 Womens Air Jordan 11 Legend Blue White Black Legend Blue 136064 004 Women Size Air Jordan 3 Retro Wolf Grey 580775 160 Air Jordan III Retro White Cement 3s 2013 528895 023 Women Size Air Jordan 11 Retro Low Infrared 23 2008 Presidential Election Abortion Academia Africa al Qaeda America 2006 America 2007 Arabia Art Beijing 2006 Beijing 2007 Blogosphere Bookosphere Central Asia Chet Richards China Cobuyitaphobia Cognition Congress Connectivity Courts Democrats Doctrine Education Europe Faith Family Films Geography Greater East Asia Greater Syria Health Care Health Mullahs History Homosexuality Humor Immigration Iran Iraq Israel Japan John Robb Juan Cole Korea Law Media NationMaster Natural Disasters Natural Liberty Nebraska North America Oil Pedophilia Personal Finances Poetry Public Finances Recipes Republicans Science SLAPP Software South Asia South Dakota States Rights Stephen DeAngelis Television Thesis Thomas Barnett Thomas Friedman United Nations UNL UNL / Adolescent Psychology UNL / Child Psychology UNL / Cognition Technology UNL / College Teaching UNL / Creativity and Expertise UNL / Dorm Life UNL / Genetic Development UNL / Genetic Politics UNL / Human Cognition Instruction UNL / International Law UNL / International Politics UNL / Memory UNL / Notes on Rails UNL / OODA UNL / Scope Methods Vanity Women Shrinking the gap lifting countries up from "third world" conditions to modern ones is the grand strategy of the United States. This plan includes regime changes to take down bad actors, and may eventually include political union to reward good ones. Another part is the reverse domino theory, where one state is globalized, and that state in turns helps others globalize. Today I was lucky to hear an American diplomat stationed in Africa talk about China's investments in that continent. China is wisely transforming some of her wealth to connect with other states, building up infrastructure spreading globalization. China is a natural ally in shrinking the gap, not just because of her economic wisdom but also for her people's ideologies. When the Chinese people are asked whether they support capitalism, they respond "yes!" even more than Americans and much more than the French: France is a natural ally in shrinking the gap, not for her economic foolishness, but for her people's freedoms. What does this mean? France and China are allies, but in different ways. France is an ally because she is democratic, and if we are successful all people can, like the French, protest for any reason they want without being gunned down by "People's Liberation Army" soldiers. China is an ally because she is capitalist, and if we are successful all people can, like the Chinese, lift themselves out of poverty. What does this mean? We support both France and China but in different ways. We will stand by France when her democratic traditions are attacked by Muslim ghettoists, while working to minimize her harmful effects on globalization (such as her attempts to prop up Middle East dictators). And we will stand by China in building connectivity, while maintaining a military that minimizes her harmful effects on globalization (by assuring the world a democracy like Taiwan can never be invaded by a dictatorship). 308497 033 Air Jordan 4 Green Glow Dark Grey Green Glow Cement Grey Black,A hat trick apiece for wingers James Mendeika and Will Sharp heaped misery on Dave Woods side, who failed to perform consistently for large patches of the game. Haven lack of efficiency at crucial times proved costly, surrendering possession and territory when the game was more evenly balanced on the scoreboard which ultimately led to the heavy defeat. Whilst the result was slightly harsh on Haven, their frailties out wide were on show as all but one of Featherstone tries came from out wide, a frustrating fact given the admirable performance from the Whitehaven pack. Paul Jackson made his expected return to the Haven fold, but Sean Ainscough, Larsen Marabe and Samir Tahraoui were unavailable for the visitors. Haven took the ascendancy early on when Lee Mitchell was agonisingly halted inches from the line in the opening five minutes. But despite several repeat sets the visitors couldn break down a tireless Rovers defence, who struck with their first meaningful attack eight minutes into the game. A floated Gareth Moore kick to the corner was claimed by Mendeika at pace who crashed over the line. Moore converted. There was a sense of d vu just three minutes later when Mendeika scored his second, this time claiming Andy Kain cross field kick to put Rovers 10 0 ahead. Moore pushed the conversion wide. The hosts continued to threaten, and were only denied extending their lead through some fine scrambling defence to deny James Lockwood. It was an intervention that reaped its rewards as the visitors went straight up field courtesy of a penalty and Jesse Joe Parker crashed over in typical fashion. Cain Southernwood couldn convert. Despite enjoying their fair share of possession, Whitehaven were constantly pinned in their own half and culminated in the visitors surrendering possession and allowing Mendeika to cross for his hat trick after a flowing move out wide. And when Will Sharp went over in the opposite wing five minutes before the break, Haven efforts in the opening quarter appeared to be irrelevant. However, the visitors were given a glimmer of hope two minutes before the interval when Tom Carr looping pass put Jordan Burns over in the corner. Southernwood couldn convert, leaving the visitors 22 8 behind at the break. Any hopes of a fight back rested on Haven scoring first, however it was Featherstone who struck the initial blow when Lockwood bounced off a number of Whitehaven defenders with ease before freeing Greg Worthington to score out wide. Moore converted. Yet again, however, Haven replied with a try. A delightful dummy from Southernwood split the Featherstone defence to free Mitchell, who despite being pulled down short of the line, played the ball quickly for Parker to score from dummy half. Southernwood added the extras. Unfortunately it was as good as it got for Dave Woods side as they conceded 22 points in the final 28 minutes. Daniel Smith barged over under the posts before Sharp and Worthington both secured their braces as Featherstone exploited Whitehaven frail flanks. A Jamie Cording try soon followed before Sharp secured his third and Featherstone tenth try after a superb offload from Worthington and a spectacular finish from the winger. As part of the deal, the University of Kentucky standout will be guaranteed not one custom shoe release but two, which to me seems completely outrageous for a player who has not even set foot on an NBA court. I will tip my cap to Wall for what he has done so far, but it still doesn add up to much in my opinion. In one season at Kentucky, Wall ran the point for the Wildcats and averaged 16.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Certainly good numbers and no one can deny that. He also had help, though, from forwards DeMarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson. The Washington Wizards own the first pick in this month draft and are expected to take Wall, and what will he have to work with in the nation capital? A gun toting, injury plagued Gilbert Arenas to begin with and Fabricio Oberto down low. I hate to burst the bubble here, but John Wall isn going to turn that team around on one season of college ball, certainly not after being handed a paycheck by Reebok before doing anything. This trend towards throwing money at rookies before they prove themselves annoys me to no end. Now that Wall is in this position, I have no choice but to root against him. It not that I don like him or his skills, it that Reebok has done something so blatantly ridiculous that I am left with no choice. Reebok, like many companies signing deals with rookies these days, is marketing the name and face of John Wall completely independent of Wall basketball prowess. It the smile and a quick dribble between the legs at the commercial shoot, but above all else it the brand of John Wall that they are trying to bank on. They are selling his swagger. They are throwing $25 million at the kid because he has dimples, but they overshot the deal with two signature shoes in a move that could really backfire if his court skills in the NBA don match his pre season marketability. My prediction is Wall first shoe will come out as the new season starts in late October, and the sales will be good because people will be buying four months worth of hype. If his second shoe matches the sales of the first, it will be due to his on court worth which he will have to prove he has all throughout his rookie season.
